Vilnius Book Fair 2012

Yesterday my sister and I went to a Vilnius Book Fair, a cultural event in Lithuania that attracts thousands of visitors each year. We spent half the day wondering around in a mass of people and flipping trough hundreds of books. We were mostly interested in comic and children's books. At the end of the day we had dizzy heads and sore legs, but it was a time well spent.

Illustrarium. An exhibition of 32 leading Lithuanian children's book illustrators. It was first presented in 2011 at Bologna Children's Book Fair. Lithuania was the Guest of Honor that year:

Kitokia grafika. A collective of young and enthusiastic people with a goal to popularize comic books in Lithuania. We helped them build the cardboard bookshelf the day before the fair:

A presentation of Art Spiegelman's comic book Maus translated into Lithuanian:

We discovered very inspiring books by an Italian artist Bruno Munari for the first time. I was really impressed how innovative and contemporary they looked:

Books by Kveta Pacovska:

An exposition of books by Kestutis Kasparavicius translated into different languages:
